Naturally, the Mercedes Museum is not a bicycle museum; however, it offers a substantial dose of fascinating technology and history, and cycling enthusiasts will certainly find something to enjoy here as well.
Porsche Design's 1978 Austro-Daimler ultralight racing bike prototype
With thanks Jim Hemig
Studio F.A. Porsche published this studio image of the 1978 Porsche Design Austro-Daimler bicycle that is a one-of-one design prototype. Much of this bike is unpublished. The only info I have about this bike from Porsche Design states, "1978 design concept for an ultralight racing bike. Decades before it became the norm, this study bike was built in monocoque construction around a frame made of composite materials in honeycomb structure. Branded Austro-Daimler as a nod to Ferdinand Porsche's early beginnings at the Austrian firm.”
