Expo – Bicicleta i Societat 1870 -1960, Barcelona – Spain

26/06/2026 - 06/07/2026
Barcelona opened one of the Tour Festival’s (for Tour de France 2026) most significant cultural events with the inauguration of the exhibition ‘Bicycle and Society (1817–1960)’, installed in the Pati Gòtic of Barcelona City Council and open to the public free of charge.
The exhibition traces the history of the bicycle from its origins in 1817 to the 1960s, highlighting its role as a vehicle for social transformation, freedom and social cohesion. The exhibition brings together 57 original bicycles and replicas, loaned by six Catalan collectors through their generous collaboration.
The exhibition is organised into eight themed sections devoted to the history of cycling, technological innovation and the relationship between the bicycle and society. Highlights include ‘Bicycles Made in Barcelona’, dedicated to the city’s historic bicycle manufacturers, as well as an interactive display featuring the tandem bicycle with which Mayor Jaume Collboni and Tour Director Christian Prudhomme confirmed the Grand Départ Barcelona 2026.
The exhibition is accessible, includes a QR code with content in several languages, and can be visited free of charge at the Pati Gòtic of Barcelona City Council until 6 July 2026.
