Geliano TT, 26"/28", France - after 1990
Geliano is a French bicycle brand founded in 1953 by Jean-Marie Duret in the town of Argent-sur-Sauldre. Despite its Italian-sounding name, these bikes are a symbol of eccentric French craftsmanship. They became famous especially in the 80s and 90s for their radical designs, wild colors and custom paintwork. The brand still operates today under the auspices of the parent store Cycles Duret-Geliano.
Key features of vintage Geliano bikes:
Wild paintwork and design: Bikes from the late 80s and early 90s often had components (including stems, gears and cranks) hand-painted in the same colors and patterns as the frame itself.
Top-notch materials: Frames were built from premium steel tubes such as Columbus (SLX, Max) or Reynolds.
Design specialties: They often used a monostay rear structure (connecting the rear struts into one tube at the seat tube) and aerodynamically shaped tube profiles.
