BT Superbike
Manufacturer:
BT (Bike Technologies), an Australian company.
Development:
Developed in the mid-1990s as a collaboration between the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT).
Technology:
These bikes were highly advanced for their time, featuring a carbon fiber composite frame and innovative aerodynamic designs (such as a very flat seat tube and downtube and different sized wheels) to minimize air resistance. They were so fast that later UCI (cycling’s governing body) regulations rendered their specific design elements illegal in professional racing.
